The Grande Bretagne has been primarily serving cruise shippers (and the odd person en route by flight to Santorini) in season for at least 15-20 years now. Possibly much longer. But yes, it is quite sad.
That said, the hotel has become simultaneously too expensive and cheap since Covid. I've written off Astir Palace, I'd love to be able to return to GB one day though.
GB and Astir Palace were my go to hotels in Athens. Sadly no more. GB is a zoo. Astir prices are illogical. Really miss Astir. No staying at King George, which is much quieter, and still has the amazing location and breakfast with views.
