Anyone can confirm you get the points back regardless even if you book it when there was a sale?
So only the taxes will go to the travel bank. Now if that is the case, wouldn't that mean someone booking with points and then canceling it has less liability in a way compare to someone who book with credit card? Because they going to only get a small amount of travel bank compare to someone that get a lot more?
That doesn't make sense because say someone booking a flight for 300 dollars. Also they pay another 30 dollars for check bag so 330 dollars total credit card. Say they cancel less than 7 day left so now they have 330 dollar travel bank dollars or 300? The same person that used points to book the same flight... let say it cost them 15000 points and they have a balance of 20000 points so 5000 points balance after booking. Let just say their taxes were 60 dollars. The one checked luggage they added is another 30 dollars. So now they only get 90 dollars credit card payment compared to the other person who paid 330 dollars.
You telling me when same person cancels less than 7 days, they get their points back but they now get a travel bank of how much? 60 or 90 dollars? Now wouldn't that mean someone who has enough points to book a flight and then cancel it 7 days before leaving, they are paying much less in term of credit card payment so their liability is less? So in a way, that same person that cancel three times in a year with same price ticket get charged less in their credit card than the first person who book with credit card? Since obviously people prefer a refund to credit card as oppose to travel bank credit?
