There won’t be much in the way of night time duration in the higher lats at that time of year, as you come back down over Greenland it should fall to night but September is not the best time of year for the Aurora spotting, it still occurs and can indeed be spotted. Your best best will be a CME occurring a day or two prior to your flight, in which case it should be visible on both sides of the aircraft, that said given the higher latitudes you’ll likely be at, should it be dark enough there is a good chance of spotting it in any case, albeit faintly at best for that time of year.
