1. I am travelling on a revenue ticket and my family (3) are on the same flights but using the GUFs. TA reported that I need to be on the same PNR. But the same BA trade support said that each GUF must be on its own PNR. So the two do not compute. We are all in the same household (both officially by BA and in reality).
2. Trade support are saying that codeshares are not allowed. Agree that I cannot upgrade the codeshare, and it must be the BA number, but I believe that rule was removed a couple of years back. I am not trying to upgrade a AA booking.
anywhere I can point to. Happy for people to say they have not had no issue here, nor have I in the past. So am looking for actual T&Cs.
And yes I am lost why they do not allow the robot to agree/decide and keep on checking with trade support!
cheers,

I'm not sure on the first question. But to upgrade an AA flight, you need to have the AA prime flight number. You can have an agent swap a BA codeshare to an AA prime, but this may or may not entail a fare difference, and the difference can be very little or a lot. Technically, you also need a special type of A class availability, so just seeing A5 on expert flyer doesn't necessarily mean there is the required space. But I have in the past gotten lucky and been able to apply a GUF where I know there wasn't A upgrade availability. I don't think there was any rule removed "a couple of years ago" as you've only been able to use GUFs on AA quite recently.
