Entry with the card was extremely easy, took about 2 minutes to scan the paper, card, and fingerprints.

When I dropped my luggage off early, at the Tokyu Stay , the Japanese person at the counter took a copy of it without question and stored my luggage until I checked in. But when I went to check in a few hours later, the non-Japanese person at the counter refused to use it, she kept saying she needed the passport.. Given that you aren’t required to carry your passport when you have the card, I wonder if it’s good enough to carry and people are misinformed about it or if the passport is still required. No big deal as I had my passport with me, but I won’t always when checking in to a hotel temporarily for a day or two.
