It's liberating. I don't worry about lockers, I breeze lightly around the airport shops and lounges, I can cram my case(s) to the full 23/32kg limit with plenty of just-in-case items, I'm never concerned that someone might steal my stuff, I can stay in the lounge until the last minute, I'm not lumbered with heavy coat in winter, and, best of all, I don't have to spend my holiday wearing revolting, lightweight, crease-free, thoroughly downmarket athleisure attire.

You should all try it some time. Leave the cabin bags to the penny-pinching easyJet brigade, and relax as you raise a flute of champagne to your lips.
Travel is so much more predictable when you're hand baggage only, and whilst you're waiting for the luggage at the other end, us HBO-ers have left the airport.. and this can mean the difference between getting the last decent train out of Gatwick or not....
