That's like saying going to sendafax.com doesn't send a fax, even though the recipient's fax machine gets a phone call and prints out paper. You're sending a fax.

If I'm communicating with my cellular provider, causing them to relay a 160 character message to another cellular provider, for delivery to your device as SMS, that's SMS.
