Wondered if it had anything to do with flying economy?
It's fine to be insulted because the FA refused a drink, but take it no further because there is no winnable argument to be had, in the air or on the ground. The FAs are tasked with the impossible: serve alcohol to 50 people while simultaneously judging their intoxication level. In that sea of ambiguity they often use extra caution or take advantage of their power to serve their own needs. Meanwhile intoxication is a very personal matter that depends on individual biology.

In business class it's even more complicated because the alcohol is part of the advertised service level. I would expect the FA to be a lot more loose with pours there because they're biaed in favor of the business class passengers and are also trained to offer alcohol as part of their routine. There is definitely no ethanol intake monitor keeping tabs on customer consumption.
