I really don’t know who BA are marketing this stripped down service to. When you’re a parent taking a child across the world getting fed, toilets that don’t make you heave in disgust, a smidge of room at your feet, the chance to arrange for a wall/window to sandwich a child between so you can relax a bit (and, with an infant, a seat that isn’t so narrow to make breastfeeding into an ordeal) are a baseline. And once the kid is big enough to be charged the adult fares, those memories of which airlines cleared the baseline persist.
If there is one observation I can offer, it is this: space wise in the economy cabin JAL’s aircraft are insanely generous. I cannot think of any carrier on the planet that devotes so much individual space to its economy class passengers.
