I am very upset with them too. I made a mistake with one letter on the name when I bought the ticket online. Yes my fault with the spelling but they would not change it for me without charging close to a 80 USD. Not only that I am in a country without any EVA office and I had to keep calling them and being kept on hold many times before I got thorough to eventually their BKK office Then they told me that they would email me with the details of how to pay and they either completely forgot about it or messed it up and did not email me and I could not get through to them. So now I had to cut short and leave early to BKK and pay the date change fee on the flight to BKK too and stay an extra two days there.
I had the same mistake with Air Asia and surprisingly they changed it without any charge at all. It was not exactly a name change but was a double ee to an i.
