Interesting place that accepted Free Night awards. Mostly good but there are things to know.

Location is in the path of revitalization moving east, but it is not quite there yet. Nothing that wrong with the block it is on, but I might be leery walking all the way from the subway late after a show. (But, I would use the East Aldergate tube stop and bus station, rather than Whitechapel stops farther east. Whitechapel is pretty downcast).

Unlike North American HP's there is a real restaurant on the lowest level that seems to be a bit of refined dining. (Sicilian, which seems different than Italian). Some pubs/chippies/cafes on the same street back to the west. Grocery a few doors away. Various single connections to London City Airport (which while not right around the corner was way less trouble than going back to Heathrow). Compares to the HP's in NYC, but maybe a bit larger rooms and baths.

My big negative was the bedding. Thin mattresses on wooden platforms. Maybe if you are younger than me that would not bother you.
