This is a tricky situation even European airlines like SAS doesn't understand. I had a similar situation where my full name on my passport doesn't 110% match the name on the ticket (I have been doing that for 30+ years and never have any issues with it). I was supposed to fly with Egypt Air and they refused to check-me in and SAS changed my name on the wrong reservation. I tried calling SAS again and couldn't get through until the flight was in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

SAS thought that I deliberately not boarding the aircraft. MS refused to issue any statement reflecting the situation. In their computer system it said "no show". Took me months to try to find someone who has the brain and power to do something.
