I've just completed an AUH-CGK run for the first time since Covid which to be fair hasn't changed much since then.
Great to be able to do this run again as I had already made pre existing plans for an overland holiday over Java so it all worked out pretty well
A few things I've taken note of the trip:
- The CMB-CGK (and vice versa) legs can have a change of equipment at very short notice so I was pleasantly surprised when we got switched from an A321 to A330!
- As before Covid, the short connection on the return leg at CMB is not usually an issue as there are so many people connecting from Jakarta for AUH or DXB that they will generally hold the flights for passengers to connect. On this occasion we landed with 50 minutes to spare and still had enough time to get across over to the bus gates!
- On arrival into CGK, it is a fairly long walk to the VOA desk, the border and the Customs Desk. There are many banners with QR codes for the Customs Declaration form so you can fill out your Customs form while you are on the move. Wifi in the airport is reasonable so you shouldn't have any issues filling it out.
- VOA fee is 500,000 IDR. They will accept debit/credit cards but will stump up a surcharge of about 8000 IDR for the privilege so you do not need to have cash with you.
