I have first-hand experience in the tech industry. I am fully remote and have never been in any company's offices since got hired 1.5 years ago - never seen my manager in person.
My wife works for a smaller company that is owned by a Japanese conglomerate. Before Covid, she had 4 international trips to Japan/Singapore/US on average. She is going to Singapore first time in 3 years. She also handles all travel budgets and currently, in 2023, internal travel expenses are 10x lower compared to pre-covid.
