We have just done MUC-MEL return in J for an amazing price. One amazing crew and three flights where they seemed to be just going through the motions. The 777 cabin seemed to be a bit tired but the 789 and the 78X were really good. The lounge in AUH was OK both directions with food choices and available seating. Overall we were happy because of the price we paid but it could have easily been a lot better.
I had a FA serving my rows of J cabin. She had a heavy accent (I am guessing Indian accent??), I couldn't understand anything except the keywords such as "drinks", "desserts". She wrote down my choice of appetizer, and at the meal time, she came to me saying she messed up and gave away my appetizer to another passenger. She apologized.
oh well.
BTW, many EY longhaul routes(9+hours) now only have one meal, plus an anytime menu which is always steak sandwiches, or nuts, ice creams etc. This anytime menu never changes.
