I have stayed at Amilla (twice). It would meet any reasonable expectation of luxury. It isn't North Island, or course. But if that is the standard for luxury, 90% or more of the properties discussed in the forum wouldn't make the cut. Amilla offers large accommodations, good food, great service, great hard product, a ton of amenities, etc. The price, the food, the service, the hard product are all in line with a luxury property. There are undoubtedly "better" options in the Maldives especially if your budget is $5k per day rather than $1.5k per day but I would happily go back.
