Holiday Inn Express Swansea East (UK)

What is your Priority Club status?
Diamond

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard / sofa bed

How are the rooms?
Relatively spacious with a long desk and openable window. Sink seemed to be a lower height than normal.

How is the exec. lounge?
None

What was good and what was bad?
Good
Breakast 0630-0930 every day (I suppose it's bad for people who like late starts on weekends)
Easy access from M4. Also easy access by hourly bus T6 from Swansea to the stop "Llandarcy BP Sports Club / Coed Darcy" which is wrong on Google Maps, stops in both directions are to the southwest corner of the David Lloyd Health Club (formerly Virgin Active???)
Seems overstaffed - lots of staff hanging around waiting for things to do, two staff decided to do my check in together.
Plumbing is fine.
Large towels.

Neutral
Has a sign asking you to wait to be seated for breakfast due to covid (everybody ignored it)
Staff at the bar shouts over to ask for room number when you walk in. When challenged that 99% of HIXes don't ask, they said they needed to know who has come so they can work out how much food they need to prepare for the remaining breakfast hours. This makes sense, but they also claimed that checking room number is part of the brand standard

Bad
Sofa was so worn that it collapses when you sit on it.
Sausages dried out, bacon was more white than pink.
Poor quality toilet paper.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Paid too much but worked out to £70 after Amex offer. I had a complex itinerary of buses and trains with short connections and this hotel was in the perfect location along my route, so was happy to pay a higher rate than usual. Unlikely to return as I won't be travelling the same route again.
