Guessing their system red-flags high value, easily resellable items. I could see it happening if you use a VPN, completed a password reset, or updated your Aeroplan address very recently, or ordered this to ship as a gift.

The cynic in me suggests when Aeroplan says wait 10 days they really mean by the time they fix, the Macbook model you want will be obsolete and a new one will be out.
