I used to see the same conundrum with EK-USA flights that leave 2-3am. They served dinner after takeoff which seemed like overkill at that time and then breakfast before landing which makes sense for the landing time but it's the middle of the afternoon in DXB. They updated that since last I flew the route to a much more sensible meal schedule (light bites, breakfast, lunch)
