I just finished a roadtrip from NV to AZ to UT. I stayed at Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hyatt Place type places. I did not have high expectations and I thought they were all fine.

To be fair, looking up online, the reviews for Sheraton ABQ Airport and Springhill Suites Lake Forest were not great, so it shouldn't be a surprise that your stay there also wasn't the greatest.
