I've stayed at the Dorphuis. IIRC I was upgraded to a duplex "suite" as a Plat or maybe I was a Tit at the time. I can't really recall too much positive or negative - it was safe enough to park my rental car in the street outside the hotel and to walk into town at reasonable hours. But it wasn't luxury by any means.

Ultimately for Stellenbosch you want to have easy access to the various wineries. The town itself is nothing more than a 2-hour wander around...
