As part of our 25th-Anniversary-Round-the-World-Extravaganza, we stayed 3 nights at The Palace of the Lost City. It was beautiful and nicely done, but there are a few things that weren't luxury about it. There are no coffee/tea making facilities in the room, which was a let down. The mini bar had to be unlocked specially...and then it took 3 requests before it was unlocked. The Crystal Court, where breakfast is served, is beautiful, but the dinner service leaves a lot to be desired. Granted, we were there during the school holidays and there were lots of little kids running around the dining room (literally), but the food was nothing to write home about. We ate the Italian restaurant two nights and the food was wonderful, but the service was overly stiff and formal. I found the service overall to be up to standard, but not truly warm and caring. I'm glad we stayed there, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely, but I wouldn't do it again.
