I was planning on wearing a coat with deep pockets to store heavier items.
It seemed like TP employees have this done to a science, targeting those with apparently overweight baggage plus extras like shopping bag(s) & coat/heavy jacket, etc. We just did an eastbound TA cruise that ended in BCN with an extended stay, LOL. Done our homework ahead & kept our checked bags to below 21 kg / 40 lbs (limit of 23 kg / 44 lbs) & had our portable scale along - DW brought 2 pair of sandals in Spain & tossed an old pair, plus new clothes ... came to within 1 lb. ceiling at the bag drop counter pre-security. Reason #13 to pack, travel & fly back/ahead "light" and checked these carrier rules carefully - bag fees at the boarding gate/ramp was $150 USD then, apparently now "adjusted" to start at $105 USD (changing exchange rate ?? LOL) vs. pre-purchase bag fee of $50 USD during online check-in.
I didn't wear my jacket with deep pockets but had electronics in pouches, ready to shift things around & wear it. For anyone possibly going to board these flights, put on your jacket or coat first - laptop chargers, powerbank, keys and whatever, even your 3-1-1 pouch, it is a PITA.
To their "credit", they did speak to a # of travelers stopped & let them thru - we're too far to hear the conversation as it was noisy & packed with folks lined up, standing room only with maybe 30 seats available, all taken & boarding/loading for the shuttle was delayed by 30+ minutes for the 150+ pax already thru the bag cops & security folks asking and checking passports, etc. - closer to 10 of them in total on the job since it was an A330 Neo at 98% pax load.
To make matters worst, didn't put up the Premium and A, B, C placards until all 4 lanes were already packed sardine-like, with Premium designated on the opposite side, causing confusion for the ones standing in the front, to try to go across & re-claim their lead for the queue. TP is a national disgrace and agreed, airport being one of the worst that we've flown into/out of in years.
