I booked on Agoda in USD... and Agoda booked the charges a few days in advance in the USD I was quoted (not at a Marriott property though). I also have booked via Agoda in local currency, and again, was billed in the local currency charges a few days before arrival. So another fix is to do a pre-pay rate (or one that is billed before arrival). I realize these 3rd party app solutions won't help with Marriott as many here won't want to give up benefits. This is a total rip off if OP is correct.
