Whilst a late cancellation is poor, it sounds like AA made a right meal of rebooking you - it really shouldn’t need 3 hours and persuading the agent to put you back in your booked class of travel. Options would normally include rebooking on other LAX flights and also reroute via SFO, DFW, ORD etc with AA connections if needed.
Ciao Karfa
AA didn’t do a great job
On the first phone call the agent claimed ‘i put you on the lax-lhr flight that has one seat left in 1st’, only for me to find out after the call and despite all her reassurances that i was in the second row of premium economy!
The second agent stated no flights in F till 2 days later, then after she put me on hold for 20 minutrs the line dropped
The third agent needed to be hand held, and only after a long set of explanations and my guidance via the simple AA booking tool on the app(not even expertflyer!) I was able to find for her the DFW itinerary. And she still had me initially ticketed in Y and J despite F was widely available!
I am at loss with this happening over and over again. Now I got a nice 7 hours layover in LHR connecting to FCO with two earlier flights available (stated reason: BA can’t confirm these!) but i don’t dare asking for more!
