Never mind, I tried it and it worked! The reason I was asking was because when I was doing a TYO-TPE search, there was CX availability at 15K in business routing through HK! So not only would I get 7 hours of CX business, but also lounge access! Total added travel time of 5 hours and extra outlay of 10K. I think that is worth it!
