I imagine it's, to do with not confirming whether an individual is on a flight or not for data protection reasons. E.g. you can't just ask BA if so-an-so is on BA123 without being authorised and confirming some details. Taking that sensible practice just a little further and over the top, should BA confirm so-and-so is on BA123 in F class by sending the requestor a menu for the flight they may or may not be on?

Probably not necessary, I'd see it as requesting general info about inflight service, not as trying to access a booking with protected data, but I imagine that's where that comes from...

Loosen the requirement though, and any old someone could email YouFirst for F menus for flights they're never even booked on - the great unwashed would be clogging up an inbox meant for F pax only… /drama
