For items damaged INSIDE the suite-case, that's not for the airline to reimburse. For this, you have travel insurance. The damaged suite-case reimbursement is for the airline.
For items in he suite-case, lost together with the suite-case, that's for the airline, though to a (pretty low, nowadays) max value.
So, as others wrote, when over-asking, you will have a hard time getting anything .....
