I am afraid there is a lesson here and that is to travel with something cheap that you do not mind losing and will not feel bad about buying another cheapo model to get by with. Even after your waiting you do not know if it is going to arrive in serviceable condition. Airlines have an uncanny ability to break even the most indestructible prams, bikes etc.
