Me and my parents really enjoyed my stay here overall, but the villas aren't complete yet, and there are some quirks to them. Some key things during my stay:
- Upgraded to Katara View, 1 Bedroom, massive and beautiful. Love the design of "hidden doors" that blend in with the walls.
- Diamond breakfast extended to 3 of us staying a la carte style, but the taste was quite ok. I enjoyed most parts of the Indian breakfast though
- Rollaway bed is free, and it's basically the twin version of their King bed
- Communication can be mostly done through Whatsapp
- Spa voucher of 250 QAR (~$55) for each guest, but all treatments are at least $300, so we skipped
- Complimentary minibar
- BVLGARI toiletries
- Electric bikes can be used outside to explore from your room
- No fitness center, but home gym equipment are inside your villa
- Pool temperature can be set by calling the front desk from phone and a staff will come to your villa, but I wish I can adjust manually myself since I'm not too intuned with Celcius and not have to wait for someone to come in. It's defaulted to 34C.
- Sun hats can be borrowed from your room.
- Buggies can be requested to navigate to/from your villa.
- Service was overall great, and I appreciated the waitress hooking it up with the breakfast bill for myself after my parents left early for their flight at dawn where they didn't eat breakfast the next day.
Some unfinished quirks:
- From my villa at least, the bathroom don't feel finished, especially the guest bathroom. Walls and floors seem unfurnished
- Bidet leaks whenever I flush the toilet in the guest room on the last night of my stay.
- One glass pane is missing from my villa's pool compared to the rest of the villas.
- There are still construction going on in the property, and I noticed they're mostly from the villas facing the Sea View. For the time being, award availability could be affected, but you may be moved to the Katara View instead if you get to book one.
These didn't detract my experience much, but disappointing to see at this price point. At the same time, I booked it with points and a free night cert, so I still feel I got tons of value from this stay. My parents enjoyed it a lot so that's all that mattered. Elite benefits were quite generous.
Would I recommend? Depends on how you pay. I can also suggest waiting if possible if the unfinished touches bother you.
- Cash: no, I can see this villa costing $1k a night, but don't understand when it becomes $2k+
- Points: Depends on your future Hilton redemptions, but I will lean to yes. Award availability isn't as competitive like the Maldives... yet.
- Hilton Free Night Certs: Absolutely!
