Since getting platinum is super easy for American based travelers, only fair they make it easy for China based ones to qualify.

Continued watering down of program - last Marriott I stayed at they said 70% of the guests are elite. That's why Marriott is smart - no one gets benefits when water downed ones are given to everyone anyway. No suites upgrades.

I write this in a Hyatt where I was pre upgraded to a grand executive suite. I do wish Hyatt made it a tad easier to requalify. At 31 nights for year

I do feel the pain. There is also an explosion of Autograph and Tribute conversions popping up in every corner of the world. Soon Marriott will be run like another Expedia. I suspect Hyatt is in the sweet spot where once SPG was.
