Someone will be along to correct me if I am wrong. I know that the voucher holder can use the 241 to effectively get a half-price Avios ticket. So if the voucher holder can do that, then they would save Avios (and maybe your some son’s fees and taxes on the cancelled part would be refunded, less a fee of course). Hope that makes sense?
That would be the case for the new Amex Premium Plus Companion vouchers but in addition to having those, until recently I had one of the old style Amex Companion 2-4-1s which caused some confusion with the agent when booking a CW reward as they thought they could only be used for economy. The old vouchers didn't allow half price avios bookings but there probably aren't too many of those still around now.
