Just beware Basic Economy awards as they have a 9900 mile deduction for changes/redeposits on domestic awards. And to point out again, booking this as two one-way's will likely require somewhat more miles than as a roundtrip (as this trip meets the minimum stay requirements for the roundtrip award levels). The cheapest main cabin awards you will currently get when booked as two one-way awards will require 57K miles total, while booking as a roundtrip it will be 49K miles (assuming lowest-level NV award bucket availability in both directions). These don't include the DL Amex 15% discount if you qualify for that.
Note that DL currently only competes with NK on this route and DL generally ignores ULCC pricing these days. Unlike a route like DTW-SEA where DL competes head-to-head with AS and will generally price match them whenever they have a sale. Absent some economic softening, I wouldn't expect much movement on DTW-LAX fares/award levels (which generally coorelate pretty heavily).
