Pros: Breakfast buffet is still great (not Asian hotel great but great) just hope it's free! Wish I could use the drink tix more but nice to have them (correction on post above, in the evening you can use them at the Jazz Bar and the Cigar Bar). The outdoor and common areas are all well kept other than some rolling in the casino floor carpets that people are constantly tripping on. The restaurants are still putting out great food albeit at a high price with spotty service.
Cons: As mentioned, staff is still not empowered to make any decisions that affect bottom line or really help much. Rooms are beginning to show age. Stayed in a 1BR west tower residence (paid with no upgrade). Upon check in the AC was not working and had to be fixed. Next to elevator shaft and subject to the constant hum of the elevator (full house and no other room to move to). One of the lights was out. Two of the recessed lights in the ceiling were falling out. Robe looked like it was used to wash the floor. Nasty couch stains and giant chunks taken out of the wall. At the pool one day there were smokers everywhere and lifeguards didn't seem to care. Service at Marcus was substandard even for The Bahamas. Public computer would not print (I needed to print for work and spent a half hour troubleshooting it myself to get it going and clear the 20 boarding passes that were queued up). Plus the issue in post 884 above.
I'll probably continue to stay here due to the conveniences and proximity to where I need to be but just not convinced it's worth $760 a night + fees taxes etc. I do hope that they are just experiencing some fatigue having just come out of a very busy, record setting season and things will be set right.
I mean, thr Concierges tend to be pretty good at fixing this stuff. They've dealt with parking charges for me before.
On the other hand, over at Amex I've tried to initiate partial disputes (e.g. demanding a partial refund for a coupon that was unusable) and they've thrown the whole thing out (to my surprise and confusion). Which...if a hotel were to lose a few thousand dollars over a resort fee, I think a bunch of us would just about die laughing.
