Much more honest advertising, and hopefully won't attract the same crazy traffic (much of which will forfeit when they realise it isn't 'free').
The 'taxes and charges' of circa 312 euros for economy round-trip CDG to HKG is unfortunately not such a great news, even though any discount is still better than no discount.
A random flight priced on Matrix for this itinerary gives the following charges (which total €312.75 i.e. match the given estimation).
France Passenger Service Charge International (QX)€30.17
France Civil Aviation Tax Domestic And International (FR)€21.57
France Air Passenger Solidarity Tax (IZ)€4.51
France Air Passenger Solidarity Tax Surplus (O4)€3.00
Carrier-imposed surcharge (YR)€214.76
Hong Kong Air Passenger Departure Tax (HK)€13.88
Hong Kong Airport Construction Fee (G3)€18.50
Hong Kong Airport Passenger Security Charge (I5)€6.36
By far the biggest part of these charges is the career surcharge YQ/YR, which means the airline is still getting some significant revenue from us even for this supposedly 'free' ticket.
