Yes I think this is the issue. When I experenced the "broken down" seat map two weeks ago I was able to change seats through the Whatsapp agent. The change was not visable in the app, previous seat number was shown. But at OLCI I did get the seat I requested through Whatsapp. Seat map did remain unavailible.
So I think you have a good chance that your on 1A and 1C, and all will be ok.
