Understood. It may be worth exploring some of the data points for what has worked with the Ritz airline incidental credit here in flyertalk. I’m not a frequent AA flyer so I’m not too sure what works for AA specifically.
However some general thoughts: Chase does not usually claw back these credits and the agents only do superficial checks on the spend (Ie checking to see if they are whole dollar amounts). AFAIK anything that works for the Amex airline incidental credits works with the Ritz cards. There are certain things that work with the ritz card that don’t work with the Amex card.
As a United captive, the credit is pretty easy for me. I discount it only 5%.
