https://youtu.be/DnP21KndxWMWe stuck to Tesla superchargers and I did one charge at an IONITY dispenser near Leipzig. We already own an EV at home so to us it was business as usual with charging. We didn’t use shell anywhere or their partners but the keycard did come with the shell dongle. Ionity app was really good
we got the car with 90% and returned with 97%. As for range I’m not sure but we were having to stop every 2.5-3 hours I’d say. We drove FRA to Berlin and the first stop was for lunch. Using the Tesla navi system it suggested we stop. We charged I think 20-90% while eating and had to stop once more for 11mins to top off to get us to Berlin. Berlin to Leipzig required one 4-90% and back to FRA was 2-3 quick stops again one was over dinner and the other was a coffee stop.
id calculate range in time Vs Km tbh. I travel to Germany once a year it seems and driving on autobahns is annoying at times. Lots of construction, traffic and 80-120kph speed zones. Also keep track of mileage as the EVs are limited. We busted our mileage by like 400km but I knew it already and was fine. The Tesla was still way cheaperif you are renting a Tesla in almost everything is Type 2 connector including Tesla
Thank you for the details! I've had our M3 up to 145mph and it had more, but I didn't want to push it any further because of passengers and traffic. Ironically I was trying to keep up with some cars that passed us at what I assumed was only 100mph, and at 145mph they were still walking away.
Nice to know the cars there don't have to deal with charging adapters. Maybe one day we'll all decide on either LHD or RHD and then metric or imperial systems too, lol.
Did the autobahn traffic come to a quick halt from those speeds? How are speeds safely managed with all the construction?
