The most reliable way to choose the correct award is to make a dummy booking that requires the Cat 1-7, then book the Cat 1-4, then cancel the dummy booking.
Good tip. Recently discovered that a free night award I booked at a Cat 1-4 pulled an earlier expiring Cat 1-7 instead of a Cat 1-4 award. Luckily I found out before the stay.
