Hello hive mind! I am a newbie to miles and points, and I'm working on my first redemption--and I've aimed high. I would like to book two J seats on ANA from YVR to HND for next year, Apr-May with Aeroplan points. I've been watching expert flyer as well as searching on AC site. I've seen a couple of flights that route through Seattle, but ideally I would prefer to find flights direct from YVR because I'm on Vancouver Island and have to get over to YVR as well. My questions are two-fold: first is about dates that are searchable--on AC website it allows me to search for flights up to Apr 25/2024, while expert flyer only shows up to Apr 8/24--anything beyond that says too far out. Can anyone make sense of that? My second question is, since I'm searching a year in advance, is it reasonable to think I can doggedly check for J flights from YVR and get lucky, or should I just go ahead and route through Seattle so I don't miss out entirely?
