I'll probably just take the 20k after it expires and be happy with that. With the fast expiry, the growing list of cat 8 hotels that don't qualify, the fact that using the award on multi-day reservation prohibits you from using a suite upgrade award, etc. just make it all a big PIA. Just me complaining here. Also calling for suite awards is annoying, can't believe they haven't build something in where you can use it online.

Slightly related question: Does anyone know if there is a way to choose which free night award to apply to a given reservation? E.g. previously, I had both 1-4 awards and 1-7 awards in my account with different expirations, and the system would just show "free night award" when booking and it wasn't clear which of the certs it was applying. Thanks.
The award itself is incredibly valuable if you can use it. The problem I have is the short expiration of 6 months. But I appreciate getting the award as a thank you for requalifying. No idea what they will do moving forward. They kind of went off the deep end during the pandemic giving us points for award types that were never really meant to be used by globalists. We all gladly accepted those points, and why not? They were offering them. So now that that's over, I really hope that we'll continue to have the option to exchange them for 20k points if we can't use them effectively before they expire. But they used "as a one time exception" wording which is a bit worrisome.

If the system applies the wrong one, you can simply email them or use twitter DM to fix it. I rarely call for anything, things that require interaction can be done by twitter DM or email.
