You are correct, but if AA wants to make Paying J and F passengers happy (they obviously don't want to) then we should be considered more important. They do consider us more important when it comes to Flagship Check In and Flagship Lounge access, so don't see why this is different.
Clearly AA values status over people who fly in F. This has been said time and time again. Just because that's not in your best interests doesn't mean that it's not in AA's
I would not compare flagship F/J to domestic F.
