Was working on a few future reservations today and came across this at a couple of hotels:
Member Rate Flexible
Additional Information
Holding Your Reservation
- Your reservation is not guaranteed if you arrive late. Please note that your room will only be guaranteed until 6:00 PM on the day of your expected arrival.
Cancelling Your Reservation
- You may cancel your reservation for no charge before 11:59 PM local hotel time on xxx, 2024 (2 day[s] before arrival).
- Please note that we will assess a fee of 208.08 USD if you must cancel after this deadline. If you have made a prepayment, we will retain all or part of your prepayment. If not, we will charge your credit card.
So if I understand this, if my flight is delayed or I get stuck in traffic I don't have a room after 6pm despite a credit card guarantee. On the other hand I have to cancel 2 days out to avoid a charge. How is this a Flexible rate? This is a standard roadside hotel - not a special event or anything similar, and I've come across others with the same disclaimer recently.
