Yup, even if it's a third party booking the ticket, each traveler will get their status and credit card benefits, which in your case is the free bags for everyone on the same ticket. If this wasn't the case, nobody would get any benefits when their employer is booking travel for them.
But there's zero downside to creating a "family".
Only downside I have to say is that if you are create a "family" with people who you don't have a long lasting relationship with, it'll be annoying trying to remove them since you have to wait 3 months. Other than that, create those family pools and share all those benefits together!
