At this time Hyatt has not announced any extensions for 2023. It seems we are back to our normal policy after several exceptions were made in 2020 and 2021 during the height of the pandemic. We do not anticipate an exception being made for these types of awards going forward, under normal circumstances.
The best way to get the full value of the award is to use it prior to its expiration date. If you are unable to use it, please follow up with me once it has expired, and I can check to see if we are able to offer any compensation. Please keep in mind the terms of our empowerment can change at anytime, so compensation can not be guaranteed, and we are unable to compensate any awards earned through Chase (these awards are typically the ones that are good for one year upon issuance).

Just to vent, this award is super annoying. When I got it, I sort of thought "oh, nice, sounds like a free night at any Hyatt" and then slowly that idea was chipped away until it's so, so much less than that. I'll probably just take the 20k after it expires and be happy with that. With the fast expiry, the growing list of cat 8 hotels that don't qualify, the fact that using the award on multi-day reservation prohibits you from using a suite upgrade award, etc. just make it all a big PIA. Just me complaining here. Also calling for suite awards is annoying, can't believe they haven't build something in where you can use it online.
Slightly related question: Does anyone know if there is a way to choose which free night award to apply to a given reservation? E.g. previously, I had both 1-4 awards and 1-7 awards in my account with different expirations, and the system would just show "free night award" when booking and it wasn't clear which of the certs it was applying. Thanks.
