Bags will make nearly any connection pax do, and many connections pax don't. I would not worry about bags at all.

My main worry would be any delay into MSP meaning you're stuck there with someone offering you MSP-LAX-HNL in Y and expecting you to take it with a smile. However, there might not be many better options to rebook onto given how early the Hawaii flights usually leave (not looking it up but I sort of doubt MDW-ATL-HNL is going to be any better timed).
