If the plane has to land normally anyway, why not just continue to destination and do it there, if there are no signs of trouble? An abundance of caution?
i'm not up on the regs, the a/c may not have had ETOPs clearance for the oceanic crossing if there was a tailstrike warning going off in the cockpit.
