Coconut Pointe (Bonita Springs, FL) Resort REVIEW - MASTER THREAD
We just did a 3 night ($299+tax) stay as part of a promotional timeshare offering. It was supposed to be a studio, but because the place was about 20% full, we were given a 1 BR end unit with two balconies. Checkout is at 10 am. As expected, there were zero WoH or Globalist benefits, in fact they didn't even ask for my WoH number at check-in.
At check-in, we were told that the property is going to be converting to a Marriott-run timeshare property at some point in the future. I wish I had more information about that, but when we arrived at the timeshare presentation, they were overbooked. We received our 10,000 WoH points and an apology. Oh well!
The property is still under heavy construction after Hurricane Ian 7 months ago. The golf course was totally destroyed and is being reconstructed. The private island that they own was wiped out and has no timetable for its reopening. One of the adult pools/tiki bar areas is still closed, but 5 other pools (including the lazy river) are open. The very small main restaurant/bar was only open 7 am - 7 pm, primarily because there are so few people staying there. The clubhouse weight room is open but the children's club zone is closed. We saw no children at the resort while we were there. Also, there are no nearby beaches, so if that's what you are looking for, you will be disappointed. Service levels are bare bones, so we ended up bringing our own drinks to the pool rather than trek over to the clubhouse for $15 cocktails.
Cash rates are super cheap compared to historical prices but there are very few amenities offered. You have to go to the Hyatt Regency a mile away (which was packed with conference-goers) or trek several miles to Estero/Bonita Springs for restaurants. If you want to unwind in a very nice, nearly deserted 1000+ sq ft condo resort and get in some Florida pool time, it's a good option. We filled the fridge with champagne and snacks and had a relaxing 3 nights.
[followup: because I charged a round of drinks at the pool to the room, it showed up on my WOH account. So they also credited me with the Bonus Journeys bonus for the nights!]
