First, there is a difference if the companion is on the same PNR as the elite.
When on the same PNR, the companion does inherit the elite's status.
However, when on a separate PNR, the "companion" does not inherit the elite's status and is prioritized based on their individual status.
Additionally, things are a bit different if a GS is supporting the upgrade.
Because of this. it is very important which situation the agent was responding to.
