I've sat in 54A on the A350, and yes - you can easily get out through the gap ahead as long as you are fairly nimble. The legroom is outstanding, but keep in mind you do lose under-seat storage and the width is slightly compromised due to the fixed armrest on the right. But those are acceptable trade-offs, IMO.
